Forklift Mechanic
Adaptalift Group New Zealand is hiring a Forklift Mechanic / Technician for its service team in Christchurch Central, Canterbury, New Zealand. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced equipment professional to work across the Christchurch region, supporting customers with commissioning, installation, training, servicing, and breakdown assistance.
The role is suitable for mechanical and equipment professionals with experience working on fixed or mobile plant equipment or similar machinery. The successful candidate will receive specialist training, modern tools and technology, a fully maintained service vehicle, and ongoing support from experienced supervisors and training managers.
The Role
Adaptalift Group New Zealand is looking for a Forklift Mechanic / Technician to join its service team and provide high-quality technical support to customers across the Christchurch region.
The successful candidate will work with materials handling equipment and take on a diverse range of responsibilities, including equipment commissioning, installation, customer training, servicing, and breakdown support.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Carrying out servicing and maintenance on materials handling equipment.
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns.
- Commissioning new equipment and ensuring it is ready for customer use.
- Installing and setting up equipment at customer locations.
- Providing ongoing service and breakdown support across the Christchurch region.
- Inspecting equipment and identifying mechanical or operational issues.
- Completing preventative maintenance and repairs to required standards.
- Responding to customer service and equipment support requirements.
- Providing customers with guidance and training on equipment operation where required.
- Using modern tools and technology to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Maintaining accurate service and repair records.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures at all times.
- Ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high professional standard.
- Communicating clearly with customers, supervisors, and other members of the service team.
- Supporting other service and technical activities as required.
Candidate Requirements
Adaptalift Group New Zealand is seeking applicants who bring:
- Previous experience working with fixed or mobile plant equipment or similar machinery.
- Mechanical trade experience or qualifications.
- A Mechanical Trade Certificate is preferred, although all relevant trades will be considered.
- Current and valid car licence.
- Strong mechanical and equipment troubleshooting skills.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a professional service team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to diagnose equipment faults and complete appropriate repairs.
- Customer-focused approach to service and technical support.
- Ability to manage a diverse range of service and breakdown requirements.
- Willingness to undertake ongoing specialist training.
- Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical.
- Ability to complete drug and alcohol screening.
- Ability to provide satisfactory referee checks.
