Restaurant Manager needed in Australia

Waters Edge Restaurant is hiring a Restaurant Manager in Parkes, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia. This is a full-time position offering $80,000 per year plus superannuation, depending on experience. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will lead front-of-house operations at a well-known waterfront fine dining restaurant located on the edge of Lake Burley Griffin. The restaurant provides à la carte dining and functions for up to 100 guests and operates with a small, hands-on team.

The Role

The Restaurant Manager will oversee daily front-of-house service across lunch, dinner, and functions while maintaining high standards of guest service. The role involves leading and training the FOH team, managing reservations, coordinating with the kitchen, and supporting private functions and events.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Managing front-of-house service during lunch, dinner, and functions
  • Leading, training, and rostering a front-of-house team of approximately 6 staff
  • Maintaining service and presentation standards across every shift
  • Managing reservations and guest flow through OpenTable
  • Allocating restaurant areas, domes, and functions
  • Overseeing the overall guest experience
  • Responding to customer complaints and online reviews
  • Handling cash-up procedures and end-of-day reporting
  • Monitoring basic labour and sales information
  • Coordinating with the kitchen regarding service timing, menus, and specials
  • Supporting functions and events from initial enquiries through to completion
  • Helping maintain a smooth and professional restaurant operation

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate should have previous experience in a supervisory or management position within fine dining or premium hospitality. Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills are essential.

Candidates should have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisor or manager role
  • Experience in fine dining or premium hospitality
  • Current ACT Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification
  • Strong wine and beverage knowledge, or willingness to develop these skills
  • Availability to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Ability to lead by example during busy service periods
  • Experience using OpenTable
  • Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems
  • Experience with Idealpos is an advantage
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
