Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden Corporation is hiring a Vegan Chef / Assistant Chef for its Sustainable Living Department in Tai Po District, Hong Kong. This is a full-time opportunity for a passionate and creative culinary professional with experience in vegan or plant-based cuisine.

The successful candidate will work primarily at the Eat Well Canteen and may occasionally support two other Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden catering premises. The role focuses on preparing high-quality vegan food, developing seasonal menus, maintaining food safety standards, managing kitchen inventory, and supporting a sustainable dining experience.

The Role

Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden Corporation is looking for a Vegan Chef / Assistant Chef to join its Eat Well Programme and work under the direction of the Head Chef.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and presenting plant-based dishes while contributing creative ideas to seasonal menus and maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen operations.

The role will primarily be based at Eat Well Canteen at Green Hub, Wan Tau Kok Lane, Tai Po, with occasional duties at Eat Well Café at Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, Lam Kam Road, and Food Hub at HKU Kadoorie Centre, Shek Kong.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and preparing high-quality vegan dishes.
  • Presenting meals to a high standard.
  • Developing creative and seasonal plant-based menu items.
  • Selecting and working with a variety of vegan and plant-based ingredients.
  • Applying knowledge of nutrition and plant-based food preparation.
  • Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation standards.
  • Following food hygiene and kitchen safety procedures.
  • Ensuring food preparation areas remain clean and organised.
  • Managing kitchen inventory and monitoring ingredient levels.
  • Helping minimize food waste through effective planning and stock management.
  • Collaborating with the Eat Well Programme team to enhance the dining experience.
  • Supporting daily kitchen operations and service.
  • Working closely with the Head Chef and other kitchen team members.
  • Adapting menus and dishes according to seasonal ingredients and programme requirements.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
  • Supporting catering operations at other KFBG premises when required.
  • Performing other kitchen and culinary duties as required.

Candidate Requirements

Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden Corporation is seeking applicants who bring:

  • Proven experience as a chef.
  • Previous experience in vegan or plant-based cuisine is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of plant-based ingredients and nutrition.
  • Creativity and passion for culinary innovation.
  • Ability to develop attractive and seasonal vegan dishes.
  • Strong food preparation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in both English and Cantonese.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with MS operations.
  • Valid Hygiene Manager or Hygiene Supervisor certificate is an advantage.
  • Valid driving licence is an advantage.
  • Valid Type I or Type II driving licence is an advantage.
  • Ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
  • Flexibility to work occasional shifts outside normal working hours.
  • Open-minded approach and respect for the validity of different spiritual paths.
