The Role
Turley Farms is looking for a motivated Machinery Operator to work alongside the Orchard Manager and support daily operations across a range of important seasonal activities.
The successful candidate will operate orchard machinery and vehicles safely and efficiently while helping maintain productivity across the newly established Rockit apple orchard.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Driving tractors and operating attachments for mowing and rolling.
- Operating forklifts to move bins, materials and equipment around the orchard.
- Carrying out routine machinery checks.
- Performing basic machinery maintenance when required.
- Reporting machinery faults and maintenance issues promptly.
- Operating machinery safely around workers, trees and orchard infrastructure.
- Supporting seasonal orchard activities as required.
- Working closely with the Orchard Manager and wider orchard team.
The position provides varied, hands-on work across key seasonal activities and offers the opportunity to work with modern orchard systems and equipment.
Candidate Requirements
Turley Farms is seeking applicants who bring:
- Full New Zealand working rights.
- Proven experience driving tractors and/or operating forklifts.
- A current New Zealand driver’s licence.
- F endorsement for forklift operation and/or a tractor licence is advantageous.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to perform practical outdoor work.
- Solid communication skills.
- A responsible and safety-focused approach to machinery operation.
- Familiarity with high-density orchard systems is advantageous.
- Experience working with Rockit or other premium apple varieties is advantageous.
- A current First Aid certificate is advantageous.
Machinery and tractor operation experience is essential for this role. Applicants must also be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
