The Role
The successful candidates will work in a childcare environment supporting children in daycare, nursery school, kindergarten, and before- and after-school programs.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Assessing children’s development and supporting learning plans
- Assisting with housekeeping and cooking duties
- Bathing, diapering, and feeding infants and toddlers
- Supporting programs that promote children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
- Maintaining daycare equipment and supplies
- Telling stories and leading songs, crafts, and other activities
- Assisting early childhood educators with daily programs
- Communicating children’s progress and concerns to parents
- Encouraging creativity through art, music, dramatic play, and physical activities
- Guiding children with eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- Preparing snacks and arranging rooms for meals and rest periods
- Observing children for learning or behavioural concerns
- Preparing written observations and reports
- Participating in staff meetings
- Establishing appropriate behaviour guidelines
- Maintaining a safe, healthy, and supportive environment
- Organizing before- and after-school activities
- Supervising and coordinating activities of other childcare staff when required

Candidate Requirements
Candidates should have 2 to less than 3 years of experience and an other trades certificate or diploma. The position requires bilingual language skills, with sign language considered an asset.
Candidates should have:
- Experience working with children
- Knowledge of childcare and licensing regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel
- Good manual dexterity
Relevant certifications may include ECE certificates, First Aid, CPR, Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR, Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis training, ABA certification, Montessori Early Childhood Teacher certification, and other childcare-related training.
Experience with children with special needs is also listed, including children with physical, intellectual, mental health, or behavioural disabilities, Down syndrome, asthma, ADHD/ADD, and genetic disorders.
