The Role

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Safely transporting students to and from school.
• Completing scheduled morning and afternoon school bus runs.
• Following assigned routes and maintaining reliable schedules.
• Providing friendly and professional service to students and the wider community.
• Creating a safe and welcoming environment for young passengers.
• Following all road safety and passenger transport requirements.
• Completing vehicle safety checks as required.
• Reporting any vehicle, passenger, or route-related issues to the appropriate team member.
• Maintaining punctuality and dependable attendance.
• Communicating professionally with students, parents, schools, and colleagues where required.
• Remaining calm and responsible when dealing with unexpected situations.
• Completing additional charter work when required and available.
• Participating in ongoing training and professional development.
• Following Ritchies’ health and safety procedures.
• Performing other duties associated with school bus operations as required.

Candidate Requirements

Ritchies Transport Holdings Limited is seeking applicants who bring:

• Full New Zealand Class 2 driver’s licence as a minimum.
• Current Passenger endorsement.
• Strong commitment to passenger safety and responsibility.
• Friendly and approachable personality.
• Ability to interact positively with Tamariki and young passengers.
• Reliable and dependable work ethic.
• Good time management skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Calm and responsible approach when under pressure.
• Strong awareness of road and passenger safety requirements.
• Commitment to following company policies and procedures.
• Ability to complete required pre-employment checks.
• Ability to pass a medical assessment as required.
• Ability to successfully complete drug testing.
• Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice check.
• Satisfactory reference checks.
• Successful Vulnerable Children Act (VCA) check.
• Current right to work in New Zealand.
