Position Summary
Working in our school kitchen, you will support the preparation and service of healthy, tasty meals for pupils and staff. Whether it’s greeting students with a smile or keeping our kitchen running smoothly, your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing and daily experience of our school community.
Key Responsibilities
As a Catering Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:
- Preparing, serving, and presenting food in line with dietary and portion guidelines
- Assisting with food preparation, such as chopping vegetables or portioning meals
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and hygienically
- Keeping the kitchen and serving areas clean and tidy
- Ensuring compliance with food hygiene, health, and safety regulations
- Providing excellent customer service to pupils, staff, and visitors
- Supporting other catering staff and working as part of a team
Required Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for individuals with:
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and willingness to learn
- Some experience in a food service or kitchen role (preferred but not essential)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic food hygiene awareness (training can be provided)
- Reliability and a professional approach
- A passion for delivering great service to young people

Salary & Benefits

- Starting wage: £12.26–£12.45 per hour (based on experience)
- Hours: 10 hours/week, Monday to Friday (11:30 am – 1:30 pm), term time only
