📝 Job Summary
As a Welder, you’ll be responsible for the interpretation of blueprints and engineering drawings to fabricate and weld structural steel components. This is a hands-on, full-time role requiring physical strength, technical expertise, and a dedication to health and safety standards.
You’ll work both in our fabrication workshop and onsite across various projects, helping to build some of Auckland’s most durable steel infrastructure.
🔧 Welder Jobs in New Zealand Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job specifications.
- Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for welding or fabrication.
- Use hand tools, torches, and machines to cut, shape, and prepare steel components.
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, arc, and other appropriate techniques.
- Align metal sections accurately before welding using clamps and measuring tools.
- Inspect welds for quality, strength, and precision.
- Smooth and finish welded joints using grinders, files, and chisels.
- Ensure all work meets safety regulations and quality control standards.
- Maintain and clean welding tools and equipment regularly.
- Collaborate with team members and report job progress to supervisors.
- Adhere to all site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Handle physical workloads, including lifting and positioning heavy steel materials.

- At least 2 years of welding experience in a construction or industrial environment.
- Proven ability to read blueprints and work from technical drawings.
- Strong skills in MIG and arc welding (TIG is a bonus).
- Physically fit and capable of handling heavy materials and tools.
- High attention to detail and workmanship quality.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and safe handling of materials.
- Good communication skills and a can-do attitude.
- Certification in welding (preferred but not mandatory).
