Key Responsibilities
As a Family Physician, your responsibilities will include:
- Collecting medical histories from patients and relevant sources
- Examining patients to diagnose diseases and injuries
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures
- Prescribing and administering medications and treatments
- Providing acute and emergency care as required
- Coordinating and managing primary patient care
- Advising patients on health, wellness, and preventive care
- Inoculating and vaccinating patients
- Consulting with other medical practitioners and specialists
- Providing counselling and support to patients and their families
- Supervising medical and support staff
- Participating in institutional committees
- Reporting births, deaths, and contagious diseases to authorities
- Acting as a patient advocate
Supervision:
- Staff in various areas of responsibility (1–2 people)

Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, candidates should have:
- Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
- 1–2 years of experience in family medicine or related practice
- Certification from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
- Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
- Licensure with provincial or territorial medical authorities
- Experience or interest in one or more specialties, including:
- Family practice
- Emergency medicine
- Pediatrics
- Geriatrics
- Obstetrics
- Internal medicine
- Mental health and counselling
